The Scottish Fuel Poverty Advisory Panel response to Ofgem's Call for input on Standing Charges
The Scottish Fuel Poverty Advisory Panel responds to Ofgem’s call for input seeking views on reforming standing charges, launched on 16th of November 2023. In launching its call for input, Ofgem’s recognises that its last in-depth review of standing charges was prior to the energy crisis, and acknowledges that it is now vital to re-open discussion considering whether standing charges are set in the right way and are fair between different types of consumers. The Scottish Fuel Poverty Advisory Panel is of the view that reforming standing charges is an important part of the wider energy pricing reform needed to alleviate fuel poverty, and this informs their response to Ofgem (15th of January 2024).
